Concert Bands

After marching season ends, each band class begins its concert season:
  • Concert Band (1st hour)
  • Symphonic Band (6th hour)
  • Wind Ensemble (2nd hour)

The Concert and Symphonic Bands are open to all students. Typically those in the first hour band are also in Concert Choir and will alternate daily between band and choir. Students in Symphonic Band are not also in choir and will meet in band every day.

Wind Ensemble is an audition-only band, open to those in grades 10-12. Auditions take place early in the second semester before class scheduling begins. Students who are in both choir and band must audition for, and make, both Wind Ensemble and Chamber Choir in order to be placed in the 2nd hour music classes.

Concerts

The concert season includes two concerts:

  • The winter concert in February, which includes all high school bands and choirs
  • The "POPS" concert in May, which includes all bands for grades 7-12

Concert Attire

Students not in choir wear white shirts or blouses and black pants or skirts, along with black dress shoes, to February concert. Those who are in choir wear the school-provided choir formal attire.

Attire for the "POPS" concert is more casual. Students may wear nice shirts (no T shirts) with casual slacks or skirts.
