Homecoming Week Help Needed: Wednesday, Friday and Saturday Morning

posted Sep 23, 2019, 4:00 PM by Meg Loven

Dear Band Parents...

Please see the following email from our uniform parent, Tara.

Marching Band Parents:
Homecoming week is fast approaching and we are needing lots of help from parents. We have time slots for Wednesday for the parade,  2 time slots to help with for Friday, and a time slot for Saturday morning while the band kids are practicing. These are vitally important to help get the kids ready for the busy competition season which is fast approaching. The jobs are not hard and you will be able to meet other band parents. If you are needing more information on a particular sign up please don't hesitate to get a hold of me and I will be happy to answer any questions. Even if you are only able to help a portion of the time, that is fine as any help is greatly appreciated and the kids really do appreciate everything we do for them. The band cannot function without the many parents and this is the time to volunteer to help out.

Please sign up for Homecoming Week - Band!

Uniform Information - BOA

Hello Band Parents

This is our last band competition for this year coming up this Saturday October 27th at the  BOA Band Competition in St. Louis, MO. It has been a pleasure to see your kids grow from the first day of band practice to the very end.  So on that note please have your band kid(s) arrive at the school by 4:45 am

Please have your band kid(s) wear their grays... short  shirt and shorts, they will be indoors and it does get warm during warm ups.  The shirt must be short sleeve per Mr. Stevens.   They will need to wear other clothes over the grays unless they feel comfortable in grays alone.

Long hair needs to be put up in a french braid Mr. Stevens is wanting two braids,  if a girl (we will need some girls to step up and help with this as I'm sure there are some that just can't do french braids) and guys with long hair will need to put their hair up in a bun, no make-up, no nail polish and no jewelry (earrings or watches). They will need to wear mid high white socks, ankle socks do not count as mid high white socks , if they do not have mid high white socks we will provide a pair for them.

Also the students will need to bring money to eat lunch at the stadium and for the stop for dinner on the way home. If your student is wanting any souvenirs they will need money for that as well.

This could change some so please have your child listen to what Mr. Stevens says at the end of band practice.

Thanks

Hello Band Parents!
Saturday October 13th please have your band student arrive at the school by 2:15. Please have your kids wear their grays... short gray shirt and either long gray pants or they can wear shorts. They temperature is going to be cold so long may be better. They will need to wear long white socks to the knees or upper calf with no markings on them, if they do not have long white socks we will provide a pair for them. Please also make sure they bring money to eat and a snack if they want something on the way home to eat on the bus as it will be a late night returning.

Also we will need help washing pants again if needed as Mr. Stevens has decided to wear white pants, the infected shirt and the scrub shirt only now. If you would like to help please let me know and I'll add you to the list of names I have now.

Thanks

Limestone Updates - Note Location in BARTONVILLE

Good Morning MSHS Band Fans,

Saturday October 6th please have your band student arrive at the school by 2:15. Please have your kids wear their grays... depending on the temperature they may want to wear long grays. They will need to wear other clothes over the grays unless they feel comfortable in grays alone.  Long hair needs to be put up in a french braid if a girl (we will need some girls to step up and help with this as I'm sure there are some that just can't do french braids) and guys with long hair will need to put their hair up in a bun, no make-up and no jewelry (earrings or watches). They will need to wear long white socks with no markings on them, if they do not have long white socks we will provide a pair for them. Please also make sure they bring money to eat and a snack if they want something on the way home to eat on the bus as it will be a late night returning.

We've been closely monitoring the weather for tomorrow's competition at Bartonville Limestone and the forecast is not looking great. Apparently this school does have in indoor performance option, though, so we will be following the schedule we sent out earlier this week. As far as uniforms, the kids will still need to wear their grays (long or short...your kids can decide) and tall socks. If Limestone decides to hold the competition indoors, we will be wearing our planned scrubs uniforms. If we are outside and it is raining lightly, Mr. Stevens has requested that the kids wear their white uniform pants with their orange "infected" t-shirts (all are provided). If we do end up wearing the white pants and performing outside, our uniform mom, Tara, has requested help in washing the white pants. It is not hard, we just request that NO BLEACH be used on the pants. If you are able to help wash the pants, we would need you to meet at the uniform trailer immediately after the competition. Please let Tara know if this is something you can help with.

Just wanted to clarify with you that our competition tomorrow is taking place in Bartonville, IL at their high school, which is called Limestone Community High School - near Peoria. It is NOT in the city of Limestone, IL near Kankakee.

Limestone Community High School
4201 S Airport Rd
Bartonville, IL 61607

Also...if you haven't had a chance...check out the photos of our newly completed band trailers on the MS Music Boosters Facebook page.  Unbelievable transformation!!! We are so very thankful to all of you who contributed toward the trailer updates, with your financial help and your elbow grease. If it takes a village, I think our Marching Band village is the best village!

Thanks everyone and GO MARCHING BULLDOGS!!!
